The Deuteronomistic code says, "obedience results in blesings whereas disobedience curse." Israel often failed because the Israelites frequently sinned against the Lord their God, who had rescued them from Pharaoh of Egypt. Indeed, the results of disobedience and unfaithfulness to the covenant between Yahweh and Abraham's descendants. Obviously the Israelites were too obstinate before God in other words "walang utang na loob." God no-expense-spared them a lot - he fought for them against subjugation and foes, he miraculously provided for their food and drinks, and he astoundingly delivered them from slavery to the land of prosperity. Conversely, the Israelites betrayed him. They worshipped various gods and goddesses that God seriously forbade.
This jog my memory of the movie "Jack and the Beanstalk" directed by Brian Henson about undoing generational curse. The ancestor (first Jack) of Jonathan William Von Hapsburg Robinson (in short Jack), whose name was Jack in the same way had came from impoverished family. One day, Jack met an old man and he was been given a number of bean seeds in barter for their family's only cow that made his mother awfully mad. Inadvertently, these pieces of seeds were meant to be the vessel for a luxurious and extravagant life of family Robinson. By means of the seeds that miraculuously grew in a span of one night Jack came to experienced something beyond grasp - a castle in the sky where he was been treated specially by its peope, the giants in particular. However, in spite of their benevolence Jack betrayed them. He stole the gold laying goose and harp, the verve of the land. The fantastic world then suffred and its beauty and grandeur insolvent. In the meantime Jack enjoyed spendthrift life.
In the same way with the entire human race. In spite of God's graciousness we disobeyed him in the beginning of time. Yet, for the reason that God loves us, his master piece he has made a way for us to be redeemed and be back again to him through the Lord Jesus Christ who paid our tansgressions and shortcomings on our behalf.
In Psalms 116:12 it says What can I give back to the Lord for all the good things he has done for me? Let us live a holy life, Serve with gladness, and Live for Him.
